Privacy Policy

Better Groceries is a shared grocery list for iPhone and Apple Watch. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, who processes it, and how you can have it deleted. We don’t show ads, we don’t track you across apps or websites, and we never sell your data.
What we collect

We don’t collect your location, contacts, health data, advertising identifiers or browsing history.
Who processes your data
We use a small number of service providers to run the app. They process data only on our behalf:
- Clerk: sign-in and account management.
- Convex: database and backend hosting for your lists.
- Vercel AI Gateway: routes voice and text requests to AI models: OpenAI (speech-to-text), OpenAI’s open-weight model hosted by Cerebras or Groq (reading the items out of a sentence), and TypeSafe AI (matching items to our product catalog). Only the audio or text of that one request is sent, never your account details or other lists.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, TestFlight and App Store distribution.
Sharing with other people
When you invite someone to a list, or join someone else’s list, everyone on that list can see its name, its items and each member’s name and profile photo. Anyone with a list’s invite link can join it, so only share the link with people you trust.
Apple Watch
The watch app receives a device-specific access key from your iPhone so it can show and update the list you pin to it, including when your iPhone isn’t nearby. Signing out on the iPhone removes it.
How long we keep data
We keep your account and lists while your account exists. Voice audio is deleted right after transcription. Voice request logs are kept for up to 12 months. When you delete your account, we delete your account details, voice logs and the lists only you are a member of. Shared lists stay available to their other members.
Your rights
You can see and edit your profile in the app at any time. To get a copy of your data or to delete your account, email alexandre.ramalho.1998@gmail.com. We’ll reply within 30 days. If you’re in the EU or UK you also have the right to object to processing, to restrict it, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Better Groceries isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
